My name is Kat Cafaro
In art history class, I learned about Henri Matisse and his Open Window painting (1905). Viewers at the time did not approve because they thought it was unfinished due to the “lack” of paint on the canvas. The controversy instantly brought to mind how grateful I am to be here and now because the art world is so versatile. I can create, design, and capture whatever I want. I am a designer because of my aspiration to be creative. I design because I seek to entice, inspire, and motivate audiences to respond to messages in an empathetic way. I collaborate with clients to develop all-embracing identities and to cultivate long lasting relationships. I capture moments and notions through fine art and design expression. With my love for art history, I invoke different styles, influences, and period references in my work. Two of those references are Abstract Expressionism and Art Nouveau. Further, I take everyday objects and use them as inspiration towards my work. While I capture the essence of a story, company, or individual, I keep an open mind and I am always willing to learn.
Outside of school and work I love spending time with my family and friends. Some hobbies of mine include fashion, traveling, trying new restaurants and cafes, going to concerts, checking out art galleries and museums, collecting art books, listening to music, and watching horror movies. I have a cat named Iris who I adore very much.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work!
